What we'll do |
Since it's origins in the 7th century, oil painting has always acted as a record of history and form of therapeutic/emotional expression. Misunderstood as highly complex and even mysterious, oil paint actually stands as one of the most forgiving of all painting mediums due to it's long drying times and subsequent space to pin-point desired effects. Each session we will build on our individual painting in layers, from the portraits thin, initial base tones, right through to the fat, final highlights. |
During the workshop I ask you to look closely at your natural impulses with colour and gesture. You may discover you already have a personal artistic style. This is fantastic. If this is the case, I believe in the importance of encouraging you to pursue your style during the course, whether realism or not, as this is your voice, your contribution, and of course, unlike the voice or mark of any other individual. To inspire the continuance of your painting practice after the course and for future reference, you are also encouraged to take your finished painting home at the completion of the workshop. |
